Robert H. (“Robbie”) O’Donnell has practiced law continuously from 1974 until the present. Having been educated in the public schools of South Carolina in various places, the son of a Methodist minister and minister’s wife, the family served churches in various parts of the State of South Carolina. A graduate of the University of South Carolina in 1970 and of the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973, he has been admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of the State of South Carolina and all Courts of the State, and has also been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the State of South Carolina, as well as the Fourth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals since 1974 and 1975 respectively. Areas of practice for the present firm are similar to the types of practice engaged in over these years, including, but not limited to the Court of Common Pleas and General Sessions, the Family Court, Magistrates, and Municipal Courts, and the Probate Court within the region. Mr. O’Donnell has also argued cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court on a number of occasions during his career. Mr. O’Donnell has served as the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Georgetown since 1976, and at various times has served as special referee in the Circuit Court and participated in numerous mediations and the process of arbitration. He has also been qualified as an expert witness to testify in trials in the Court of Common Pleas involving real estate matters.
Mr. O’Donnell has been a Freemason since 1982 at Winyah #40 AFM and he has been a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner continuously since 1984. Mr. O’Donnell has been a Rotarian for the Rotary Club in Georgetown, South Carolina for over 40 years, having served as President on two separate occasions. He also served as Deacon for many years and as Elder, including Clerk of the Session at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church. Mr. O’Donnell is also active with the Swamp Fox Players, appearing in 20 or so plays over the last two decades at the community theater housed at the Strand Theater in Georgetown, South Carolina. Mr. O’Donnell was married to Mary F. Bootle O’Donnell for 45 years prior to her death. The O’Donnell’s raised two children here in Georgetown and now in Mr. O’Donnell’s spare time he enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren.
